Bolero for 4 year old girl

I am going to start this blog by posting about my most recent work. This blog will feature mainly knitting/crochet projects I have been doing since start of this year but I will include other projects too as time passes.

March marked Anu - our friends Jaiveer and Kripa's daughter's fourth birthday and given that I was on knitting spree I though I have to make something for her birthday. She had seen me wearing my winter hat earlier and she had said its very pretty so I knew she would enjoy and value it :) I had bought a few yarn balls of red heart's pomp-doodle yarn just before it was discontinued because I loved the texture and effect it gave to the few patterns I saw. So I decided to do girl's bolero for her.

Here is another picture of how it turned out.

Here is the information on the yarn I used:
Red Heart super saver, color: Purple Tones Almost 1 complete ball
Red Heart Pomp-doodle, color: Plush-Plum 1/4 Ball

Followed the directions for size 4 (first entry in the bracket) from pattern

The changes I made:
Instead on doing the border in patches, I picked up stiches on circular needle for whole jacket (except arms) and did the circular knitting row once and then another round of binding off. Even for arms, I picked up stiches on double pointed needles and did the circular knitting only.

Planned Pooling Scarf and Hat

Almost 3-4 months ago on my Facebook feed I saw a post about a scarf that is created using technique called planned pooling. At first I thought how hard it would be.. I just have to follow what people have mentioned. Start with 22 chains and it will turn up as expected. But soon I realized that it wasn't that simple. I did few more attempts without putting much thought into it and result was awful. The pattern wont be consistent or wont turn out the way it was suppose to at all. At that point I conveniently blamed yarn for all the mistakes and misfortune. ) So I gave up on the blue yarn that I was working on and started with this zebra yarn.. Just after couple more failed attempts I realized this is not something I can blindly follow. So I viewed multiple videos, read few articles. That's when the concept became clear to me and I finally understood what people meant by adjusting tension and needles for he work in all those Facebook...

Fireflies on the canvas

This was something I really liked for ease of making and the way it is abstract and left to interpretation. I look at this as fireflies at night and it instantly captures my attention. My favorite gift so far for to show I care :) I made multiple of these for multiple occasions but first one ever went to my sister to show her my love when she flied down here when I needed her. Making it is fairly easy and I followed instructions from Glitter and Lights Canvas

Chenille Throw/Blanket

I don't remember when and how exactly I found this type of quilt. It was a while ago though. I saw it made as a baby blanket and the technique and final result just drew me to it. The texture of this comes out even nicer than the pictures. It has soft and plus feel to it. I decided to make a throw out of this and the result was awesome. I miscalculated length though, so it is little shorter in height and better as lap blanket or blanket to be used when legs are folded :) We sent that one to India so that my in-laws could enjoy its warmth especially since they are a lot sensitive to cold. Much to our amusement, Ma has kept it in cupboard since she doesn't want it to get dirty :)   Given that the result was so good, I was looking forward to making more of these. This time I found the awesome lama print fabric in Joann and made this for friend's kid. Just couple of days ago we received message telling...
